WELCOME
In the interest of keeping our members informed about Beekeeping and club activities, this information is provided as a first step towards your adventure into beekeeping with our club. When reviewing this information, should any questions arise please ask any of the fellow members and they will be happy to oblige, or they will direct you to the proper person to answer your concerns.
ABOUT YOUR MEMBERSHIP
Your membership is considered to be a family membership and you are encourage to include your family members at all of our meetings and functions. Family members are considered to be any household member of your family; all are welcome to attend and enjoy your beekeeping interests, right along with you.
We want you to stay informed. In the event you miss a meeting or two we will post updates to our Facebook page, update the Website and you will be notified by email of all special activities.
All Members are provided a current Member Phone List each year.
MONTHLY MEETINGS
The KBBA meetings are held the second Monday of every month and starts at 6:30 pm with socializing and the meeting beginning at 7:00 pm. The meeting usually lasts one hour unless we have a special speaker or program and these will be announce via email, social media and the website.
During the meetings there are presentations, show and tell and open discussion about beekeeping.
During the year we have guest speakers and special programs for the members educations and entertainment. Any suggestions are welcome; we try to keep to bee related subjects.
Each year the club schedules field days to provide everyone some hands one\ experience. Most often this is done on a meeting evening during the May, June or July time frame.
SPONSORED CLUBS & EVENTS
Our Club supports the Grant County 4H Bee Club. You are encouraged to sign up and work with the youth.
The Club supports a booth at the Grant County Fair and State Fair. This is an opportunity for you to display your honey or any beekeeping related items to be judged; money, trophy and ribbons are awarded to the winners. You are also given the opportunity to sell your honey or honey related items at this booth. All Club Members are encouraged to volunteer a few hours to educate the community on beekeeping or man the sales table.
In July the Club will have a picnic; the Club provides the main entree and the members provide the side dishes and desserts. This is a wonderful time to chat with your fellow beekeepers and enjoy the community of the club.
Holiday pot luck dinner is held during the Thanksgiving-Christmas Holiday Season. All members and their family are invited. The Club provides the main entree and the members provide the side dishes and desserts. This is quite a feast and should be on your “Must Attend” list. The pot luck is during our regular monthly meeting, the date will be announced well in advance for your planning calendar.
Any active member can promote the sale of their honey by submitting their information to the club at kybeekeepers@gmail.com and we will list your information on our club website.

All members are welcome to be apart of our Club Swarm List. Should a swarm be located and in your area , you will be notified to contact the caller and collect the swarm. If you have an interest in being a part of this group please submit your information to the club at kybeekeepers@gmail.com and we will add you to the list.

When we receive a call we will first reach out to the closest Beekeeper by phone. If they do not respond we will contact the next closest person and move down the list.
Time is of the essence when it comes to Swarms so a Swarm Kit should be ready to go come Spring. Some items to consider having in your kit.
