‘Road map’ for Kentucky State Fair moves forward
2020
LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A scaled-back proposal for the Kentucky State Fair is moving forward after planners sent their guidelines for the August event to the state fair board on Tuesday.
The board’s fair committee approved a draft plan that calls for sweeping changes in the age of COVID-19, including wider aisles, requiring masks for vendors and livestock participants, and reducing occupancy in some areas by more than 80%.
UPDATE 7/2020
KSBA board of directors and I reviewed the impact of the reduced Ky State Fair, which required outdoor venue only plus the Covid health restrictions. Financially, after a review of the 2020 West Wing honey booth budget based on a 50% reduction of Fair attendance, any profit seems unlikely, plus health and welfare of the volunteers, it was decided to cancel the West Wing honey booth.
We still plan to have the Certified Honey Information booth, which normally would have been inside, and it will be under a tent on the South Lawn.
If you have any questions, please contact me or one of the KSBA board members.

The unique, family-friendly 11-day festival that celebrates local and statewide heritage gives far more to the Commonwealth than merely blue ribbon competition, concerts, special exhibits and carnival rides. It is a showcase for Kentucky’s finest products, companies, entertainment, and, most importantly, people.

“Thank you to everyone for taking time to help with the KSBA honey sales table. Our club worked in the Ag Land Building and sold over two thousand dollars worth of honey on August 20th. We had a wonderful time speaking to the public about the different types of honey and beekeeping. I am proud to be a part of such a wonderful beekeeping community.”
